  Introduction
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we are pleased to invite you to attend the GeoHunan International Conference 2009 to be held in Hunan, China on August 3 to 6, 2009. The conference received 574 abstracts from over 30 countries. We are reviewing 320 full papers and the paper acceptance will be available before December 20, 2008. The Preliminary Conference Program will be available in March 2009.

This pavement and geotechnical conference is endorsed by a number of leading international professional organizations. This conference will provide a showcase for recent developments and advancements in pavement and geotechnique and offer a forum to discuss and debate future directions for geo–engineering in the 21st century. Conference topics cover a broad array of contemporary issues and design and construction techniques for professionals involved in roadway pavement, geotechnical, geoenvironmental, and geomechanical disciplines. You will have the opportunity to meet colleagues from all over the world for technical, scientific, and commercial discussions.

Hunan is one of the largest commercial provinces and economic centers of China. It is being developed into a modern international economic, financial, and trade center. Recent rapid construction in China has provided great opportunities for Pavement and geotechnical engineers to use their knowledge and talents to solve many challenging problems involving highway pavements, materials, foundations, ground improvement, slopes, excavations, and tunnels with innovative solutions and cutting-edge technologies.
We look forward to meeting you in Hunan in August 2009.
